Clover Way Inter-Terrace. Singapore
A home designed for tropical living
Awarded the prestigious Tatler Design Awards 2020 for best tropical concept, this house was featured on Channel News Asia's Remarkable Living as well as Singapore Tatler. A home built for multiple generations, crafted for the hot and humid climatic conditions of equatorial Singapore.
The project is set in a low-density residential neighborhood in the northern part of Singapore. Having a narrow frontage and deep spaces like many terraced house developments sandwiched between two party walls, the insertion of a light well down the middle of the house helps to bring natural light to the core of the dwelling, at the same time works as a ventilation device well suited for a tropical climate.
The new development adds an attic floor above the first two storeys where the master bedroom is encased by the roof form. The material palette used is minimal, focusing on the sequencing of spaces and volumes created by the central light well.
